How touching.

Had the bat symbol for a while and wanted to integrate Superman with it somehow. I finally found the right references and KAPOW – the tattoo of my dreams beautifully realized by Jen at Lucky 13 Tattoo in Toronto. Now I have the Superman logo on the other side and am hoping to integrate Batman with that soon… so stay tuned. Same Bat-time, Same Bat-site!
Taken as soon as we finished!
I got this tattoo as a form of closure for a dark period in my life that I am proud to have moved on from; the birdcage symbolises the 5 months in which I hated myself, self harmed and blamed everyone else for my problems, pushing all of my friends away. The hummingbird (being the only bird that can fly backwards) symbolises me and the fact that just because I can look back into the past at all of the shitty things that have happened to me and blame everyone else and hold grudges, doesn’t mean I should. The bird flying out of the cage is me leaving that part of my life far behind with the intention of never looking back. I regret it more than anything, but I now know how completely stupid I was and that I will never go back :-)
…also because I think hummingbirds are beautiful.

Before you assume, learn the facts. Before you judge, understand why. Before you hurt someone, feel. Before you speak, think.
Aling pag-ibig pa ang hihigit kaya
sa pagka-dalisay at pagka-dakila
gaya ng pag-ibig sa tinubuang lupa?
Alin pag-ibig pa? Wala na nga, wala.Ulit-ulitin mang basahin ng isip
at isa-isahing talastasing pilit
ang salita’t buhay na limbag at titik
ng isang katauhan ito’y namamasid.Banal na…
